Everything a Device Lab Needs In One Box

The Pico5G product series makes cellular device and private network testing simple — without limiting what you can do. They are developed by Nutaq, a Quebec-based company, and provide portable 4G and 5G network testing solutions for lab and pre-deployment validation. Designed for engineers testing IoT devices, private networks, and cellular applications, the Pico5G series of products replicate real-world field conditions—including mobility, roaming, and signal variation—on a compact desktop platform. Pre-configured test cases and an intuitive interface get users started quickly, while advanced measurements, automation, and scripting support a fully configurable 4G and 5G network for flexible, end-to-end testing. Products are 3GPP Release 17-19 compliant.

Key Features

Each Pico5G is a complete cellular network — RAN and core — that replicates real-world field conditions on a desktop platform: mobility, roaming, signal variation, intermittent connectivity. SIM cards ship in the box. No carrier network or internet connection required. It also doubles as a UE fleet, emulating hundreds of UEs against another network — attach storms, churn, per-UE fading and real per-UE application traffic.

Pico5G Copilot

AI test engineer drives the unit’s own tools, reads live signaling, searches 8,000+ documentation sections and answers with citations you can check.

Multi-Network Testing

Test multiple devices on 4G (LTE, LTE-M, NB-IoT) and 5G networks concurrently.

End-to-End Connectivity

Test end-to-end connections between your cellular devices, applications, and services.

Scenario Simulation

Create and playback scenarios, such as an IoT device moving between cells or countries.

Battery Life Analysis

Characterize cellular IoT device battery life by recording power consumption and battery discharge profiles.

Early Access to 3GPP Features

Have early access to 3GPP features to rapidly validate features under development (3GPP release 17 currently supported).

Certified Device Testing

Run standardized test cases for cellular end devices, such as TRP and TRS, according to ETSI specifications, and pass certifications on the first attempt.

User-Friendly Interface

Use an intuitive interface in an intelligent app with pre-configured test cases and network profiles.

One GUI For the Whole Workflow

Connect to any bench, load a network profile, and get your first verdict the same afternoon — no configuration files, no log archaeology. The console carries an engineer from setup to signed-off report in one place.

42 Preloaded Network Profiles

Tailored, customizable configurations so testing starts in minutes, not days.

Live Dashboard And Signaling View

Selective logging of the full 3GPP LTE and NR stacks, with graphs and analytics as the test runs.

One-Click Test Cases

A catalog of deterministic tests (connectivity diagnostics, SNR sweeps, NTN cases and more), each ending in a pass/fail verdict with the measurement curve behind it.

Reports

Every run produces a shareable report with per-sample data, ready for a design review or a certification dossier.

Automation Built In

The same test cases run headless through the CLI and REST API. What you click in the lab is exactly what your CI pipeline runs at 2 a.m.

And we’re not done making this easier.

Meet the On-Box AI Test Engineer – Pico5G Copilot

Ask in plain language: “why won’t my modem attach?” The copilot drives the box’s own tools, checks a fault library built from real bench incidents, diffs your failing attach against golden traces, and searches 8,000+ on-box documentation sections — then answers with every conclusion cited to the evidence behind it.

Ask for work, not just answers: “sweep my modem across its Cat-M1 bands” becomes a composed, executed, and interpreted test campaign — finished with a report. It acts only with your approval, inside engine-enforced safety limits it cannot talk its way past.

Now With Real Satellite Passes

Pico5G Satellite turns the same bench into a satellite-link test environment — LEO, MEO and GEO passes over a live 5G NR or NB-IoT cell, with physically correct delay and Doppler, flown against real devices over the air. No additional hardware.

±36 kHz live LEO Doppler swing · 1 s re-sync after an ephemeris update · passes time-compressed up to 10× · three one-click NTN test cases

One Box But Three Tiers

The network is the same; the engineer in the box is the difference. Licenses are perpetual, with a support term. Tiers are available on the Pico5G Lite, Plus, Pro and Ultra.

The Pico5G Plus, Pro, and Ultra also support 5G Non-Standalone (NSA). The Pico5G IoT supports LTE, LTE-M, and NB-IoT only.

No. Each Pico5G platform includes an onboard Evolved Packet Core (EPC) and 5G Core (5GC), so it operates as a fully self-contained cellular network. Pre-programmed SIM cards are included in the box and registered to the local user database — no carrier network or internet connection is required for testing.

Common test scenarios include device connectivity and attach/detach validation, power consumption and battery life profiling, radio link performance (throughput, latency, packet loss), electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), handover between cells, VoLTE/VoNR/VoWiFi voice call testing, and NTN (non-terrestrial network) satellite orbit simulation. Pre-configured test cases are included, and custom scenarios can be scripted via the WebSocket API. A GUI for quick and easy test case and scenario customization is currently under development by Nutaq, and is expected to be released soon.

The Pico5G IoT is ideal for teams that only need LTE/4G testing. The Pico5G Lite suits single-cell 5G SA and IoT testing on a budget. The Pico5G Plus is recommended when multi-cell operation or 5G NSA is required. The Pico5G Pro offers 100 MHz bandwidth and 4x4 MIMO for high-throughput 5G FR1 testing, with an optional mmWave add-on. The Pico5G Ultra is the top-tier platform for maximum cell count, RF channels, and optional dual mmWave. Contact Nutaq for a recommendation based on your specific scenario.

Yes. The Pico5G IoT is compliant with 3GPP Release 17. The Pico5G Lite, Plus, Pro, and Ultra are compliant with 3GPP Release 19.
