Possible RAN Configurations

Constraints:

The Pico5G Pro integrates two SDR Cards, with each SDR capable of supporting two independent SISO or 2×2 MIMO 100 MHz channel or one 4×4 MIMO channel. This provides users with the following combinations:

  • Two 100 MHz 4×4 channels
  • One 100 MHz 4×4 channel combined with two 100 MHz 2×2/SISO channels
  • Four 100 MHz 2×2/SISO channels

Each channel can support multiple contiguous cells, provided that the total bandwidth and MIMO layers of the channel are not exceeded.

The limitations imposed by the software license restricts the total bandwidth of cells multiplied by the number of MIMO layers to 800 MHz. Only one cell 5G FR2 100MHz 2×2 cell is allowed.

Example:

4G LTE4 cells 20 MHz 2x2
2 cells 20 MHz 4x4
5G NR SA Mode4 FR1 cells 100 MHz 2x2
2 FR1 cells 100 MHz 4x4
1 FR1 cell 100 MHz 4x4 + 1 FR2 cell 100 MHz 2x2
5G NR NSA Mode1 5G NR 100 MHz 4x4 + 1 LTE 20 MHz 4x4
2 FR1 cells 5G NR 100 MHz 2x2 + 2 cells LTE 20 MHz 2x2
1 FR2 cell 5G NR 100 MHz 2x2 + 1 cells LTE 20 MHz 4x4
NB-IOT4 NB-IoT standalone cells
4 LTE cells with an in-band or guard-band NB-IoT cell each
LTE-M4 LTE cells with CAT M1 support

Frequently Asked Questions

The Pico5G Pro is a high-performance 5G FR1 network emulator from Nutaq Technologies. It features two PCIe 4x4 SDR cards, each supporting up to 100 MHz bandwidth per channel, enabling 5G SA and NSA testing with native 100 MHz bandwidth and MIMO 4x4. It delivers up to 4 Gbps downlink and includes a built-in monitor and keyboard. An optional FR2 mmWave hardware package is also available.

The Pro uses PCIe 4x4 SDR cards with native 100 MHz bandwidth per channel, compared to the 50 MHz PCIe 2x2 cards in the Plus. This gives the Pro up to 4 Gbps downlink (vs. 600 Mbps), 16-core processing (vs. 8-core), 32 GB RAM (vs. 16 GB), and a higher software license cap of 800 MHz (vs. 120 MHz). The Pro also supports an optional FR2 mmWave package.

Yes, with an optional hardware package. The FR2 package includes a UDC (Up-Down Converter), RF cables, and horn antennas, enabling one FR2 cell at 100 MHz 2x2. Two frequency ranges are available: 24–30 GHz and 37–40 GHz.

The Pico5G Pro supports up to 4 Gbps in the downlink and 2 Gbps in the uplink.

The Pico5G Pro integrates two PCIe 4x4 SDR cards. Each card supports two independent 100 MHz 2x2/SISO channels or one 100 MHz 4x4 channel. The software license caps the total bandwidth multiplied by MIMO layers at 800 MHz. A maximum of one FR2 cell (100 MHz 2x2) is permitted with the optional mmWave package.

The Pico5G Pro supports multiple concurrent cells subject to the 800 MHz license cap. Example configurations include: 4 FR1 cells at 100 MHz 2x2, or 2 FR1 cells at 100 MHz 4x4, or 1 FR1 cell at 100 MHz 4x4 plus 1 FR2 cell at 100 MHz 2x2 (with optional mmWave package).

Yes. The Pico5G Pro supports NR-NTN and NB-IoT-NTN across GEO, MEO, and LEO orbit types, with integrated NTN channel simulation including delay and Doppler effects.

Yes. The Pico5G Pro includes an integrated monitor and keyboard in the chassis, allowing fully portable operation without requiring external peripherals.

The Pico5G Pro supports up to 1,000 concurrent active UEs.

Choose the Pico5G Pro when you need native 100 MHz RF bandwidth, 4x4 MIMO without combining two SDRs, higher throughput (4 Gbps vs. 600 Mbps DL), more processing power (16 cores / 32 GB vs. 8 cores / 16 GB), or mmWave (FR2) capability. The Plus is a better fit when 50 MHz bandwidth and lower cost are sufficient.
